Baked Fish Casserole by Bandana Biswas

There are some families where being a foodie comes naturally. Mostly because the family can boast of great cooks — my friend Arunima’s family is one such. Her mom, Ms. Bandana Biswas, is not only only a great cook, but a spontaneous fountain of fun and laughter — someone everyone enjoys spending time with. Apart from their culinary skills, the mother-daughter duo is also hugely admired for their sartorial senses; and I personally envy their collection of Dhakai Jamdani Sarees. Thank you Kakima for sharing your recipes with BitebyByte.

Thank you Arunima for painstakingly penning the recipes for us.

Ingredients :
1. Bhetki Fish (500 GM) boiled with salt,  pepper,  1 onion and 2-3 garlic cloves and smashed removing the bones and skin.
2. Flour
3. Milk
4. 1 onion sliced
5. Ginger sliced (2-3 slices)
6. Butter
7. Tomato slices (1-2 tomatoes)
8. Bread Crumbs
9. Oil (1 tap)
10. 1 Egg
Procedure :
1. In a pan add 2 tsp of butter and heat.  Add flour and milk to make a white sauce.  Continuously stir the mix to avoid forming clumps. Keep it aside
2. Add oil in a pan and add onion slices,  ginger slices.  Saute.  Add the smashed fish in it and then add the white sauce.  Cook a while.
3. Grease a baking bowl with little butter.  Add the mix.  Place thinly sliced tomatoes all over it.
4. Beat an egg and spread it evenly on the tomatoes. Add breadcrumbs evenly. Add Lillie butter over it.  Bake till the crust is golden brown.
5. Serve hot.
