Fish in Orange-Honey Sauce

Often I crave for mild recipes that are not very Indianised. Some days, I like to savour something devoid of gravies or strong spices. And we as a family love fish. Combined together, you can easily deduce that this zesty yet mild fish in this delectable sauce would often make to our dinner table. This dish is perfect for weeknights when you are tired to cook an elaborate meal. This gets cooked in a jiffy and acts wonderfully well as a palate changer.

 

Ingredients / General Instructions
• You can use fish fillet or fish steak for this. Small boneless pieces of fish may also be used.
• Salmon, Catfish ,Halibut , Tilapiya, Basa or Bhetki would give you perfect results.
• Lemon juice
• Salt
• Chilli powder
• Soya sauce
• Ginger Garlic powder or paste
• Cilantro/ Parsley
• Olive oil
• Flakes of red pepper

 

TIP: You may even try it with prawns or squids.

 

Method
• Season the fillets with lemon juice, salt, chilli powder and soya sauce.
• Keep aside for half an hour.
• Whisk orange juice, chopped cilantro or parsley, ginger paste/powder, garlic paste/powder, soy sauce, olive oil as well as the red pepper flakes in a small bowl, and set it aside.
• Over a medium heat add olive oil in a skillet and cook the fish fillet (approximately 2 to 3 minutes per side) till it becomes golden brown on both side.
• Remove from heat.
• Add chopped onions to the skillet and fry till golden brown and crunchy.
• Mash it with the spatula and add the orange juice mixture. Bring it to boil.
• Reduce the heat to medium and add in lemon juice/vinegar as well as honey.
• Finally add in the fish and simmer until the fish is cooked completely and the sauce has slightly thickened.
• Serve it hot with grilled veggies or herbed rice on the side.
