Kochu Pata diye Chingri / Colocasia leaves with Shrimps
Colocasia leaves are commonly called kochu pata in Bengali and can be part of some delectable Bengali recipes. Kochu pata is delicious when cooked all by itself like Kochu Pata bhaja or kochu pata bata but it can also be paired with vegetable and seafood. Here is one such recipe in which kochu pata is paired with another favourite of Bengalis – Shrimp. Shrimp or as Bengalis call it – Chingri is also tasty all by itself. As these two great ingredients come together they can only create magic. Prepare this mouth-watering dish for your family and friends. It is so flavourful that it can be served with simple plain steamed rice.
INGREDIENTS
Finely chopped Colocasia leaves / Kochu Pata
Shrimp/ Chingri
Paste of green chili and mustard
Green chilies
Coconut milk
Mustard oil
Turmeric Powder
Salt
Sugar
PROCEDURE
1. Heat oil in a pan and before the oil gets too hot, add in the paste, turmeric powder and salt
2. After a few seconds of stirring, add in the chingri
3. Then add in the kochu pata and stir for some time
4. After that pour in the coconut milk and cover the pan
5. After about 10 minutes, the milk should have dried up, if not then continue to cook till the milk
dries up
6. Once the milk dries up, stir it after uncovering the pan.
7. Finally add a little mustard oil along with a few slices of green chillies.
Serve hot with steamed rice
