Spicy Telapiya

This recipe tastes so good that even the people who don’t like this fish, will enjoy this dish. This can be made with fillets also. That would make this dish palatable to people who are a little scared to handle the bones of a fish.

Ingredients:

  • Telapiya fish
  • Onion paste
  • Garlic paste
  • Tomatoes (chopped)
  • Turmeric powder
  • Chilli powder
  • Cumin paste
  • Green chillies
  • Coriander leaves (chopped)

Preparation:

  • Clean the fish.
  • You can either keep the fishes whole or cut them in big pieces.
  • Marinate the fish in garlic paste, turmeric and chilli powder and salt for about 2 hours (you can also keep it overnight).
  • If using whole fishes, the marinade should be rubbed well on the inside of the fishes too, otherwise they might taste raw.
  • Deep fry the fishes and keep aside.
  • Heat oil again and add onion, garlic paste, cumin paste, green chillies, tomatoes, turmeric and chilli powder and salt.
  • Fry till the masala is cooked.
  • In a baking dish, add a layer of the cooked masala, then add the fish and cover with another layer of masala.
  • Spread chopped coriander leaves on top.
  • Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes in low heat and serve.
