Tok-Jhaal-Mishti Koi /Climbing Perch cooked in spicy gravy

This is a recipe which is cooked best with fresh and big sized Koi fish or Climbing Perches. Through these are fishes with a lot of bones, yet being sweet water fish; the Climbing Perches or the Koi s are absolutely delicious.

Ingredients –

  • Koi/ Climbing Perches
  • Onion
  • salt
  • Sweet Curd/ Mishti Doi
  • Mustard Paste
  • Tamarind Paste
  • Turmeric
  • Green chili paste

Procedure –

  • Slit the fishes diagonally on both sides and lightly fry them
  • Fry onion paste, turmeric and mishti doi ( about one dinner spoon for 6-8 fish, properly frisked) in that oil
  • Saute with salt, Green chili paste. Add the Mustard paste. Stir well
  • Add the fried fish
  • Add the Tamarind paste
  • Once it starts boiling, put the oven off.
