Chingri Diye Moong Dal

Prawns lying untouched in the fridge? Tired of eating bhapa and now need something soothing? Are you trying to add some zing to everyday dal? This recipe shall come to your rescue in all such circumstances.
Ingredients:
• 100 g moog dal — the split yellow lentils
• 75 g shrimps
• 2 dry chillies
• 2 bay leaves
• 2 tbsp turmeric powder
• 1 tbsp ginger paste
• 1 tsp cumin
• salt to taste
Method:
• Wash and clean the shrimps; and then devein them.
• Marinate them with salt and turmeric powder
• Heat oil in a pan
• Fry the marinated shrimps.
• Keep aside
• Now dry fry the grams
• Take a pressure cooker and cook the gram in it by adding turmeric, salt and water, till the lentils are cooked.
• Take a pan again and add ghee to it.
• Temper it with cumin, bay leaves and dry red chilies.
• Add some ginger paste and the fried shrimps.
• Stir for couple of minutes
• Now add the boiled grams to this and let it boil.
• Add water to get desired consistency, if needed. However it is best to make do with the liquid left from boiling the lentils – best to avoid adding more (fresh) water.
• Add more salt if needed. Boil for another minute.
• Drizzle with a tablespoon of ghee and remove from heat.
• Serve hot with rice.
