Dal Fry by Sohini and Abhrajit Chatterjee
The recipe is from Sohini and Abhrajit’s kitchen. Sohini Chatterjee is a teacher and Abhrajit is an Engineer.
INGREDIENTS:

Chana dal (you can also prepare this recipe with a mixture of moong, masoor and tuvar dal)

Garlic (chopped)

Ginger (chopped)

Onion (sliced)
-
Green chili
-
Tomato (chopped)
-
Whole cumin seeds
-
Turmeric
-
Kashmiri red chili powder
-
Chopped coriander
PREPARATION:

Boil the dal until about half-done
-
Heat oil in a pan
-
Add chopped garlic and fry till brown
-
Now add the cumin seeds
-
Next add the sliced onion and fry till brown
-
Add chopped ginger, tomato, turmeric and chili powder and fry till the masala cooks
-
Now keep adding a little bit of the water from the boiled dal and keep cooking the masala

Next add the boiled dal and bring to a boil
-
Keep cooking till the dal is completely cooked
-
Add salt as necessary
-
Add chopped coriander leaves and take it off the flame
