Green Moong Curry
Green moong is a type of lentil that is loaded with flavour. Green Moong Curry is a dish that has a robust body and interesting texture. It is not only tasty but healthy as well. he recipe here is a kind of comfort food that would be great for a cold day but it is so light that you can have it in the summers as well. It can be served with paratha or roti. I sometimes even have leftovers with a slice of toast.
Ingredients:
- Soaked green moong dal
- Turmeric Powder
- Bay Leaves
- Cumin Seeds
- Coriander Seeds.
- Onion Paste
- Ginger Paste or Chopped
- Garlic Paste or Chopped
- Green Chillies Paste
- Cumin Powder
- Coriander Powder
- Garam Masala Powder
- Chopped Tomatoes
- Salt
- Oil
Preparation
- Soak green moong for a few hours and pressure cook it with a little salt and turmeric.
- Temper oil with bay leaves, cumin seeds and coriander seeds.
- Now add the onion paste followed b ginger paste, garlic paste and green chillies paste. (You can also add chopped garlic and ginger instead of paste.)
- After the paste has cooked for some time add in the following powdered spices — turmeric, cumin, coriander and garam masala.
- Continue to cook till the oil separates.
- Once the oil separates add the chopped tomatoes and cook well.
- Add salt to taste and when the masala is cooked well enough add in the boiled moong dal along with the liquid.
- Now cook it on a medium heat for some time.
- Remove from heat and serve with roti/ paratha.
