Onion Samosa

Samosa is a popular fried snack of the India. A healthier version is also available that is prepared by baking. It usually has a savory filling of onions, potatoes and peas. More vegetables like cauliflower can be added to the filling. The outside shell is made with flour and can be served with various chutneys. For someone who loves onions, here is a quick fix variation of the popular samosa. Also comes handy if you are craving something fried yet do not have a lot of veggies in the kitchen. This could also be an option to serve diabetic people samosa since this version has no potatoes.

Ingredients

  • A cup of Wheat flour/Atta
  • 1/2 teaspoon of chatmasala.
  • 1 t teaspoon of of chilli powder
  • A bunch coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 3  green chillies
  • A cup of maida
  • Oil
  • A cup of chopped onions
  • A cup of poha
  •  salt
  •  water

Preparations-

  • Take a bowl and mix the Maida and Atta along with salt and a teaspoon of oil. Then add in water to create soft dough and let it rest for about 10 mins.
  • Take another bowl and mix together chopped onions, poha, cumin powder, chilli powder, green chillies, chopped coriander as well as the chaat masala.
  • Make a paste in a small bowl using a teaspoon of Maida and some water.
  • Create thin chapatis from the soft dough
  • Cook the chapatis slightly on both sides over a pan.
  • Take the chapatis and cut them into long triangular shape.
  • Make a cone shape from the chapatis with the help of the Maida paste and stuff it with onion mixture. Close along the edges.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan to fry the samosas
  • First half fry the samosas and remove them
  • After 5 mins fry them till they become golden in colour
