Jhotpot Murgir Pulao/Easy Chicken Pulao
Chicken pulao is not the same as Chicken Biriyani or Chicken Fried rice. It has an unique taste all of its own and tastes fantastic. Whether I entertained people or cooked for myself or family, Chicken Pulao has been acclaimed. Here is the recipe –
Ingredients –
- chicken:- 8 pcs. (boneless is also ok)
- Basmati rice:- 2 cup
- onion:- 1 meium chopped
- Garlic:- 2 pods chopped
- dry red chilli:- 2
- Cinamon:- 1” stick
- Clove:- 2
- cardamom:- 1
- tejpata/bay leaf:- 2
- jeeraguro/Cumin powder:- 1 tsp
- dhone guro/Coriander powder:- 1 tsp
- Holud guro/Turmeric powder:- 1 tsp
- Lonka guro/Chilli powder:- 1 tsp
- Doi/curd:- 2tbsp
- Biriyani masala:- 1 tsp (optional)
- Sugar:- little
- salt:- as per taste
- oil and Ghee
Preparation –
- Wash the rice and keep aside
- Heat oil in a pan and temper it with dry red chilies, tej pata and whole garam masala
- When it starts to emit fragrance, add garlic, onion and ginger paste.
- Add the chicken pieces
- Add all the masala along with curd and sugar
- Saute it for a while
- Now add the rice
- Add double the amount of water to the rice ( in fact it could be a little less too, Basmati cooks easily)
- Sprinkle ghee on top and close the pressure cooker/ pan
- Put the oven off after two whistles, but do not force open the lid
- When the pressure is out remove lid
- Serve with Raita
Note – In my house everybody loves potatoes, so i add halved potatoes. I fry them and keep aside and add it with the rice. If you want to add Keora water then you can do so after opening the pressure cooker/ pan.
