Jhotpot Murgir Pulao/Easy Chicken Pulao

Chicken pulao is not the same as Chicken Biriyani or Chicken Fried rice. It has an unique taste all of its own and tastes fantastic. Whether I entertained people or cooked for myself or family, Chicken Pulao has been acclaimed. Here is the recipe –

Ingredients –

  • chicken:- 8 pcs. (boneless is also ok)
  • Basmati rice:- 2 cup
  • onion:- 1 meium chopped
  • Garlic:- 2 pods chopped
  • dry red chilli:- 2
  • Cinamon:- 1” stick
  • Clove:- 2
  • cardamom:- 1
  • tejpata/bay leaf:- 2
  • jeeraguro/Cumin powder:- 1 tsp
  • dhone guro/Coriander powder:- 1 tsp
  • Holud guro/Turmeric powder:- 1 tsp
  • Lonka guro/Chilli powder:- 1 tsp
  • Doi/curd:- 2tbsp
  • Biriyani masala:- 1 tsp (optional)
  • Sugar:- little
  • salt:- as per taste
  • oil and Ghee

Preparation –

  • Wash the rice and keep aside
  • Heat oil in a pan and temper it with dry red chilies, tej pata and whole garam masala
  • When it starts to emit fragrance, add garlic, onion and ginger paste.
  • Add the chicken pieces
  • Add all the masala along with curd and sugar
  • Saute it for a while
  • Now add the rice
  • Add double the amount of water to the rice ( in fact it could be a little less too, Basmati cooks easily)
  • Sprinkle ghee on top and close the pressure cooker/ pan
  • Put the oven off after two whistles, but do not force open the lid
  • When the pressure is out remove lid
  • Serve with Raita

Note – In my house everybody loves potatoes, so i add halved potatoes. I fry them and keep aside and add it with the rice. If you want to add Keora water then you can do so after opening the pressure cooker/ pan.
