Poha Upma/chire diye upma

Poha is a great breakfast or snacks idea, which is not only filling but also extremely healthy. Poha is packed with nutrients, low on gluten, is easy on digestion and light on stomach — making it a healthy snack option for health and weight watchers. I make this version of poha (which I call Poha Upma) quiet a lot at home and it is a healthy breakfast idea for us at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Poha(Chirey)
  • 2 tbsp chana daal/ split chickpeas
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 6 number green chillies
  • 1 pinch hing
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 tbsp peanuts
  • 2 dried red chillies
  • to taste salt/sugar
  • a pinch turmeric
  • 1tsp urad dal/ Split Black Gram
  • Cilantro finely chopped
  • Lemon Juice

Preparation –

  • Soak poha/chirey in water for 3 mins and drain. Keep it aside..
  • Heat a pan, add oil,mustard seeds,red chillies,cumin, chana dal, urad dal, peanuts, curry leaves,hing and green chillies,mix them well..Then add turmeric,salt and onions and cook till the onions have cooked…
  • Then add soaked poha, mix well cook for 5 minutes..then add chopped coriander, remove from the heat, and then add cilantro and lemon juice…

Serve hot…It really tastes good..
