Oats Pulao By Mahua Sen

In this crisis period, healthy food for strong immunity level is very important, and it is also necessary to make plan for easy to cook recipes to avoid extra burden on you. Here is a well balanced nutritious breakfast for all. Although it wouldn’t harm if you want to make a brunch or supper out of it.

 

 

 

Mahua Sen is a lawyer by profession and is admired by her friends and family for her jovial nature and sartorial sensibilities. And as any other woman, she balances her home-front even when work pressures are back breaking and dotes on her daughter.

 

 

Ingredients:

  • Oats -3 to 4 teaspoon
  • Vegetables — about a cup in all — carrots , beans ,potato, capsicum, onion (optional), peas — all chopped.
  • raisins
  • spices – cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves, green chili, nutmeg, roasted garam masala, turmeric.
  • salt to taste
  • sugar (little)
  • white oil and ghee

 

 

Process:

  • Chop the vegetables in small cubes.
  • Heat the kadhai (pan), and pour oil, as per requirement.
  • When the oil is warm enough, temper with crushed cinnamon sticks, cardamom, whole bay leaves, chilies.
  • When the spices start to crackle, put all the vegetables in it, add salt and turmeric, and fry well in low flame.
  • Add soaked raisins, and after 5-8 minutes when the vegetables become tender, stir in the oats (make it dry if you soaked it in water before), and stir continuously. You may sprinkle a little water at this stage.
  • After few minutes when it is ready, add little sugar, roasted garam masala powder, nutmeg (powdered) and ghee. Make sure the spices have blended well before you turn off the heat.
  • Serve hot
  • If you are egalitarian, you may add scrambled eggs (prepared separately), as garnish on the top.
