Moog-daal-er kochuri/ Split green gram kachoris

Moong dal is versatile enough to be used in a plethora of recipes where they adapt to whatever role they are asked to play. Moong Daal Kachori recipe is one where you can enjoy the taste of moong dal as it becomes the delectable stuffing for kochuri. It is great to have these for breakfast with another favourite Alur Dom (recipe is available on this site). It can also be served as the first course for a traditional Bengali Lunch.

Ingredients –

  • Split green grams
  • Nigella seeds
  • Fennel seeds
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Oil

Preparation:

  • In a wok, lightly dry roast the daal and then boil them till they are half cooked
  • Make a paste of nigella seeds and fennel seeds and add it to the daal along with salt
  • Fry this paste in a wok till it dries up
  • Keep aside and let cool
  • This makes for the kachori filling
  • Knead a dough with flour
  • Make small round balls with dough and fill up with this stuffing
  • Make sure you seal properly and then roll them in round shapes and finally deep fry them.
  • Serve with alu dum or spicy potato curry of your choice (recipes available in this site).
