Bhekti Paturi/ Bhetki parcels in Banana Leaf
The famous Calcutta bhekti tastes fantastic with the pungent kick of mustard. The banana leaf parcel seals the flavours and lends a unique aroma to this dish.
Ingredients:

Bhekti fillets

Lemon juice

Salt
-
Onion paste

Poppy seeds

Mustard seeds
-
coriander leaves

Green chillies
-
Mustard oil

Banana leaves
Method:

Choose Bhetki fillets that are a little thick with lemon juice, salt and onion paste for about 2 hours.

Make a paste of poppy seeds, mustard seeds, coriander leaves and green chili.

Add salt to the paste and a little bit of mustard oil.

Now smear this paste well on the marinated fillets.

In a pan, dry roast banana leaves for about 5-10 seconds each. 10 seconds initially perhaps, and when the pan gets heated enough, 5 seconds would do the trick.

Now place each fillet on a leaf and fold it well.

Tie the package with a string.

Grease a non stick flat based pan with lid with mustard oil.

Place the fish.

Cover and cook in medium flame for about 10-12 minutes.

Then turn each of them, cover again and let it cook for another 10-12 minutes.

Now remove from heat and serve with steamed rice.
