Bhetki-machher dum/ Slow Cooked Barramundi or Indian Jew Fish
The ‘dum’ or slow, covered cooking makes this dish special as it seals in all the flavours. This is a really simple recipe, but tastes rich and scrumptious with any rice accompaniment.
Ingredients:
-
Bhekti fish (use the middle part of the fish, clean and cut into pieces)
-
Yogurt
-
Mustard paste
-
Salt
-
Sugar
-
Turmeric paste
-
Green chilies
-
Mustard oil
Preparation –
-
In a pan, put the fish along with all the other ingredients.
-
Mix well so that the fish pieces are well coated with the masala.
-
Now put the pan over flame
-
Stir from time to time so that the fish does not burn
-
When the fish is well cooked and nicely coated in the masala and oil, take it off the flame
-
Serve with hot steamed rice
