Chicken Dahi Moricham/ Chicken with Yogurt & Pepper

With the summer heat, the mercury soars; and light dishes are a welcome change during that time. Yoghurt is one of the few items that is good for digestion and keeps your body cool as well. Here is a chicken recipe that has gravy completely based on yoghurt/dahi. It might seem light but do not get fooled by its innocent ingredients, it packs quiet a flavour. There are no spices except for pepper, so if you are having guest over whom do not love spicy food then this is definitely the recipe to prepare. Even children will love this dish.

 

Ingredients-

  • Chicken pieces
  • Yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper powder
  • Chopped Garlic
  • Sugar
  • Oil

 

Preparation

  • Start by marinating the chicken with yogurt, salt as well as pepper powder and leave it for 3-4 hours.
  • Add oil to a kadai/heavy bottom vessel
  • Add lots of chopped garlic when the oil heats up
  • Fry the garlic before adding the marinated chicken
  • Cover the vessel and cook the chicken on low heat while stirring at regular intervals
  • Do not add water as the yoghurt forms the gravy.
  • Once the chicken has finished cooking, add sugar to taste.
  • Finally add some more crushed/powdered pepper and serve hot
  • Serve with rice/pulao
